A Village Network School Initiative
for the 21st Century
New Millennium Children's School (NMCS) provides a holistic and developmentally appropriate curriculum that is culturally attuned for the most disadvantaged indigenous youth throughout Ladakh. Our first-generation learners come from over 70 remote villages and tribal groups across the vast region. Many are abandoned orphans from the Scheduled Tribes, most have been living in dire circumstances -- all of them have the innate ability to flourish and be successful. NMCS mission is to prepare the next generation of leaders to preserve Ladakhi and Tibetan culture, to revitalize village life, and to thrive in a 21st century economy.

About Us
NMCS was founded in 2000 by Venerable Thubstan Wangchuk to provide access to a high quality education for children from the remote marginalized mountain villages of Ladakh. The school is operated by the New Millennium Education Foundation. An NMCS education uses evidenced-based teaching methods including play-based pedagogies in the early years to support developmental growth; social-emotional learning to heal from trauma and neglect; multiple learning and teaching styles align with their lived experience in village life. In the Middle and Secondary Stages, learning is focused on real-world problem solving to prepare students to lead social, economic, and environmental change for Ladakh.
NMCS is affiliate by the Government of India Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and follows the CBSE New Education Policy.
