VENERABLE THUBSTAN WANGCHUK

Hailing from the quaint and serene surroundings of the Himalayas, Venerable Thubstan Wangchuk was ordained as a monk at the age of 12. After completing his monastic training at Gaden Photang, Dharamshala, he returned to his homeland to found NMCS and serve youth from the far flung remote border regions of Ladakh. Venerable Thubstan Wangchuk envisioned a school where children without the means would be given the opportunity to pursue a life changing education.

On a fortunate pilgrimage to a nearby monastery Guruji met with Mr. Franco, one of the founders of Eco-Himal, an NGO based in Switzerland. This auspicious meeting led to the establishment of New Millennium Children’s School initially with 40 students selected from 108 villages spread throughout Ladakh.

To this day, Guruji remains a committed and steadfast pillar of NMCS. His leadership grounds the education in a moral and ethical development.
